Home Recording Studio Basic Here s What You Need to Record

Home Recording Studio Basic Here s What You Need to Record After I had flown a few thousand dollars in a recording studio, a sound engineer friend made a cool suggestion. "Why not buy an ADAT, and keeping track at home?" So I bought venerable 8 track digital recorder and saved a lot of time and money putting all my synth tracks of tape. This was the beginning of my recording at home, and oh, the fun, and I had!   What are the basic pieces of equipment and software necessary to record at home?   There are many ways to do it! Well, since you're reading this, you probably have a computer, so our home based studio on your computer. One begins to understand the different roles to be filled at the buing house. Then we understood what will be the best hardware and software products do. In general, the principle I recommend is to use fewer pieces of equipment with multiple functions. This approach saves time and usually money. As you advance in your registration card, you can go for more specialized equipment.   There are two distinct phases in recording a song. One is "in" phase, referring to everything needed to get the music recorded in a basic form, however, with many tracks you need. The second phase is the "off" phase, the raw music, process and create the final stereo.   The "on" phase - sending the music on your computer   Music can be placed on your computer, either audio or MIDI. Audio recordings of real sounds. MIDI records no sounds, but only the digital instructions for an instrument to play. It 'very similar to a combination of a pianist and music. Without an instrument, can not make music. With MIDI, which keeps the note and volume instructions to be played on instruments of their choice later.   Although some programs allow you to put notes into the computer via MIDI keyboard to your computer, and other programs for creating music that let you generate the characteristics of a copy of the entire band without playing a note, the best solution is the speed of sensitive MIDI keyboard. Gives a much more realistic performance. For example, touching a button registered a soft note. Other features, such as mail, allow you to add vibrato and other realistic effects.   Audio simply means actual sounds. The audio tracks are voice, acoustic instruments and electronic sounds to use. If you will do well to have at least two microphones. Some microphones are better constructed to record the voice, while others are optimized for instruments. In addition, two microphones allows you to record in stereo, or two soloists performing at the same time.   The reception of the music on your computer   All this is to get the music to the computer at the door. How do I get inside? With an audio interface that has a microphone that fits your microphone cable and preamp function (so that the signal is strong enough to be properly recorded), phantom power (if using a condenser microphone that need ), a line input for synths and sound modules, and a MIDI interface. Remember the principle - less products that do more. Some find it easier to carry every sound, microphones and all, through a hardware mixer (with phantom power and effects) and that before sending the processed audio input interface. However, if your MIDI interface MIDI recording function, however.   Once the audio and MIDI are inside your computer, the software takes over. For our recording using what is called an audio and MIDI sequencer. Famous names include Cubase, Cakewalk, etc. These programs record multiple tracks of audio and MIDI in perfect synchronization.   Now you have all the equipment necessary for the "on" phase. What need for the many audio and MIDI you have recorded a song and make them?   The "out" phase - MIDI music   He said that MIDI is simply digital instructions, it is not real sound. We need to create the actual sound of these instructions. There are two options for this: inteal and exteal.   Exteal sounds come in little boxes called sound modules (or keyboards with their great sound). Sound modules have hundreds of high quality patches to recreate all the instruments of the orchestra, classic electronic sounds, Spacey new synthesizer creations and sound effects. To use them, you send the MIDI sequencer from the back through the program interface in the audio and MIDI sound module. Then take the audio output from the sound module to the computer via the line input on your audio interface and record a new audio track in the sequencer. And 'now a real sound is perfectly aligned with the other tracks.   Inteal sounds come in lots of different types. The tools used for audio and MIDI sequencer include VST instruments and software synthesizers. The latter may automatically to your audio interface, or require installation like any other program. Option two is a real sampling / synthesizer program, such as "Reason", connecting the sequencer through a software called "rewire". And there are also sound modules that are available in the form of PCI cards that are physically installed on your computer.   Adjustment and the effects   Most every song will use spatial effects such as echo and reverb. You can find some tracks that are a little 'music. In other cases, there may be a buzz that needs to be removed. For all these, you want to have an audio editing program or plug-in. A plug-in is a feature that can add to your basic sequencer program. Plug-in available for all types of functions, including reverb, compression, equalization, noise reduction, pitch correction and so forth.   A program is an audio editing program that does all these things. With most audio / MIDI sequencer, you can configure the software to access the audio editing program and fix the track without leaving the sequencer.   Mixture   Once you have all your tracks and sounds recorded, you must mix in stereo. Again, this can be done in an exteal or inteal. To make the outside world, you need a hardware mixer. This method is limited to the number of tracks you can send independently through the audio interface and the number of tracks in the table can handle. However, mixers to give a real work on the surface, and often quality studio effects, reverbs and such.   Interior with its media mix of audio and MIDI sequencer to mix the entire song to two tracks. The advantage of doing inteally is the expansion of tracks you can use. The disadvantage is the difficulty of mixing with the mouse on a computer screen. There are, however, the combination of hardware that is limited to the control surfaces of your software.   And the domain of buing   Once you have your mix, you want to put the finishing touches on this. These touches also the overall compression, equalization, noise reduction, and the discoloration and sign up for a standard volume level. Its audio editing program should be able to handle correctly, but the dominance of specialized programs that offer a higher quality and more functions of value.   Then you're ready to record your song on a CD. The chances are that your CD writing drive came with a program that not only and do not need more. I did notice that you need a writable CD, right? Well, now I did! And if you're after MP3, most of the audio and encode MP3 files.   And that's it! Now you have everything you need to make your musical magic at home. Fun, but I need not say that, since only is.Seth Lutnick is a singer and composer, who was bitten by the bug to start recording music. Their website provides detailed step by step plans for building a home recording studio, the organization and the album Song of professional registration.
