How to create your own INDIE ARTIST PRESS
How to create your own INDIE ARTIST PRESS Creating a press release can be one of the best ways for an indie artist or band to get some instant media exposure for themselves. And you know, like me, that exposure is the name of the game in those days. Although the World Wide Web has opened new possibilities for the artist, the competition can be fearsome. So if you have any news worthy of print (for example, a new CD for sale, or an upcoming concert, etc.) and then a press release could be just the ticket to give you an advantage. It will provide the necessary publicity to let people know who you are, so that his music was heard coming. In order to make the best first impression on your readers, your press release should be well written, informative and to the point. Be careful not to lose your readers attention by adding too many unnecessary details. Stick to the facts, explaining that it is and what we have to offer. I generally prefer to write in third person narrative, in which you have to create my own press release (click here for an example). Ask me the questions a reporter may ask me, is able to think freely and objectively. Sample questions and answers: [Reporter] - Who are you, what is the name of your band? [Band] - We have decided to call our group "Tangerine Sunshine". [R] - What type of music you play? [B] - E 'eclectic and difficult to define a kind of mixture between alteative and rap. [R] - I heard you just finished recording a new CD. When will be available to the public? [B] - Yeah, is called "emotions" and we are very pleased with how it tued out. , Will be available next week. [R] - in which a person may obtain a copy of the CD? [B] - is offered on our website (url) and through several other points (identify). [R] Great! How many tracks on an album? [B] Twelve. [R] - Why "Tangerine Sunshine" for a name? [B] - We like the color and the positive image it represents. Of course, all names are fictitious and illustration above is intended only to show how one can organize the information you want to include in their press release. Can be changed any number of ways to meet their needs. Once you have convinced your reporter has gathered all the facts, you're ready to write. Here's a simple patte of use: A header of the most important things is to start the press release with a catchy title. Want to make sure you grab the attention of your reader from the outset. FIRST POINT Get information about who (the name of your band, etc.) and that has to offer in the first paragraph. Keep the who, what, when, where, why and how the questions before writing to help stimulate the creative process. Second paragraph, second paragragh your press release can go a little 'more detail. Maybe you want to describe the style of music, or say something more about your next event. If so, this is the place to do it. Third PARAGRAGH In this third and final paragragh may briefly say something about the other people involved with your project or event. What we are not part of their press release, however, thinks, but it is important to add here. Please include all contact information you have, especially a web site or e-mail. When your release is ready, after finding that the spell - spelling and grammar, go ahead and put it on your website and / or your blog. Then send to as many sites you can get free PR. Mi2n.com is good for indie musicians and artists to get started. You must also send your press release with a letter to all local newspapers in your area. Put "Attention: Editor" above the address on the envelope and include a picture if possible. Do not forget to send an e-mail to all your friends, relatives and neighbors too. This is the moment of splendor, in order to reach the stars!
